Hey, the Chinese know how to build houses. They built so many houses they crashed their property market. Maybe we could use some of that.
I would love to see those CGI images of future developments without the blue skies and sunshine. Show what it looks like in the rain and grey skies. That’s how it will look 90% of the year. Make that still look like its resident-friendly and livable and you’re doing a good job in planning terms.
Chinese developer or Irish developer, fooling yourself if you think that part makes any bit of difference.

In Australia, if your try to look for rentals, about 99% percent are handled by Chinese agents. Hate to see that happening here.

China cannot allow this on its doorstep so it will murder many thousands of people in Taiwan to get rid of the ideas, just like Russia needed to do with Ukraine.

We need drastic solutions to fix the infrastructure in this country.
And if a company has the skills and capabilities to build housing and public transport quickly and cheaply it’s a no brainer.
Its a private investment fund. Doesnt matter where they are from. Its not like Irish developers are looking out for the average Joe looking for a cheap place.

I mean look, this is an extraordinarily risky investment. Once they’ve built housing they are going to have to sell it, and in this country they will really struggle to offload housing. Anything could happen. Everyone in Ireland might leave in the next few months and then these eejits will be left hanging.
No no. It’s much better to offload high risk strategies like building housing in Ireland to those brave enough to take precarious positions.
When the government say X amount of houses built each year, do housing built through investors count towards that number?
