Have just come back from Gyumri, hands down one of the best cities I ever visited

    BTW, aside from architectural perfection, what I loved:

    * Awesome cobbled roads, which are not only aesthetically pleasing, but make the perception of street as shared by both cars and pedestrian, which makes it more walkable

    * Abundance of great cafes and cheap food

    * The progress is still being done and a lot of streets are in process of reconstruction

    * Buildings are gaining shape

    What I disliked:

    * The city has no design code. The advertising is haphazard and can easily consume entire building. In general people modify their houses with zero regulations

    * Balconies. FFS, half of them are literally crumbling and the other half are transformed into separate rooms if you know what I mean. Only a few buildings have the balconies what they were meant to have

    * A lot of modern buildings, which dont match with the older ones. Gyumri is not eclectic and isn’t meant to be like that, there is no point in building stuff from beige tuff stone in the historical center of the city

    * The only pedestrian street needs update.
