I hope the judge throws the book at them and locks them up and throws away the keys. No doubt it will be a slap on the wrist and released to do the same again to the GardaI. No one deserves to be beaten up while trying to keep law and order.

I was expecting this to be related to a protest or something.
Pretty wild Sunday night.

Nobody is looking forward to the Gardaí becoming more like the US police, but sure if this isn’t the quickest speedrun to that exact future ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

Some people respect the law and some need to fear it. Scum don’t give a shit about prison and when they get out its back on the dole and in to the council house because no one will employ them or rent to them.

These reports/stories drive me nuts.
So we’re supposed to have all the sympathy in the world when this happens for the same people that couldn’t give 2 fucks about it when it happens to anyone else.
How many years were ye completely ignoring and not giving a fuck about deliveroo drivers getting attacked on the daily in Dublin lads?

I swear some of these lads were dragged up. Who in their right mind would punch a Garda in the face.

Just like the housing crisis, the justice system is another tinder box waiting to explode. This can be addressed now if the government is willing to take a 3 part approach.
1. Open prisons where prisoners actually need to produce products a profit to the state.
2. Ring fence the profit from these prisons for social development projects in areas where crime is high. It can be educational opportunities, youth projects etc
3. Allow the prisoners to take educational courses. When released I actually don’t think they should have a criminal record with a few exceptions. Give them a chance to break the cycle,
One part fixes the now, i.e. prison capacity, and the second part addresses the later. Let the people who commit the crime contribute to fixing their community instead of rotting away.
I understand this might sound a bit draconian, but it’s sustainable in the long run.
