Believe it or not, there is nothing wrong with a child being proud of their own dad. No matter how ugly an election battle is, kids should not be thrown in the middle of it. This type of backlash will only hurt them.

  2. They do have family values. There is a value to the family when children work in the coal mines.

You guys don’t understand. It’s not the Republicans’ fault. They just don’t know what a child who’s proud of their parents looks like.

  4. Republicans hate joyful families. Only families with a woman in fear, kids cowering in the corner, and the man drunk and abusive is represenative of their ideal. They hate joy as much as they hate what Jesus really stood for.

  5. I had to read that headline four or five times before I could parse it. I thought it was missing a hyphen in “dad-proof”, which still didn’t make it understandable at all. Finally it dawned on me that “proof” was supposed to be “proves”.

  6. Is there any grammatical sense to this headline? If so, can someone explain it? I’ve read it multiple times and it still makes only a vague sense, like 3 sentences are made into 2.

  7. I just hope these bastards lose by massive margins because I cannot keep living in a world where 49% of the people around me are this stupid, belligerent, violent, and deeply broken.

  8. “Hey Barron, we’re going to need you to do an interview about special memories with your dad and how close you two are. Real fuzzy stuff.”

    “Oh… uh…”

“If you can’t think of anything, we can get someone to write up a few stories you can pick from.”

    “Okay. Yeah. Do that.”

  9. These people know nothing but hatred. I only hope one day they can understand that they’re missing out by rejecting joy

Their concept of family values is strict forced adherence to the concept of nuclear family with no tolerance for homosexuality, women’s subjugation and abusive patriarch keeping it together.

I aspire to have my son look at me the way Gus looked at his dad. I immediately knew the right wing bully machine would pick up on this as a way to display to the rest of humanity how absolutely deplorable they have become.

  12. For Donald Trump, it is inconceivable that a father could love their son and/or that a son could love their father

  13. Some pundit assholes made hateful comments that got ultra-amplified. Generalizing to “all Republicans hate family values” just feeds into the division that those pundits want. So now you’re the asshole.

As a dad , I would be so happy if my son or daughter that’s that expressive of anything I do.

Conservatives mostly believe in authoritarian parenting which is usually toxic and not conducive to a child admiring a parent.

  16. These are the same Republicans who revealed in the gay marriage debate that they have literally no concept of marrying for love.

  17. Reddit: it’s immoral and outrageous to attack candidates children!!! Show some basic humanity!!!!

Also Reddit: open season on Barron heh heh

This is the epitome of family values. He and his son are obviously very close. He is obviously a good dad. Where is the bad part again? They are so weird.

The “family value” that they value is men owning their family. And these men are emotionally stunted so a son exhibiting strong emotions freaks them the fuck out. Same goes for the women who seek security via this same patriarchal bullshit.

Their family values are to disown your own children for being different or in this case, expressing emotion.
