Trump is not running an actual campaign. It’s just the stupidity of the day: electric boats, crowd size, fake Fox debates. Heck, Democrats had to have two small children teach Republicans how to pronounce a name.

Ezra Klein made an astute observation in his latest podcast, and that was that Harris is different from Obama and many other democratic politicians, such as AOC or Bernie, or indeed Obama. All of those became politicians to challenge power. Obama was a community organiser, who became a politician to thwart power. Same with AOC and Bernie. They were against power, and wanted to check power. That’s not Harris. Harris chose a role, as a prosecutor, where she would wield power. Her goal was to channel that power into a more just and compassionate path. And with that mindset, of course she would reject the advice of pundits and potentates. She is used to wielding power. She knows what she’s doing.

> It's as if the entire Democratic campaign apparatus around Harris stopped and said: "Wait a minute. We have a sitting vice president and vibrant former prosecutor who reflects the American story better than Trump ever could, and we're facing an undisciplined 78-year-old guy with 34 felony convictions and a cruelty schtick that has grown old and boring. Let's act like it!".
> In her nomination acceptance speech Thursday, Harris said: "In many ways, Donald Trump is an unserious man.”
> Unserious? Why would she think that? Trump was being very serious as he rage-posted dozens of times on his Truth Social account during Harris' 40-minute speech, including a bizarre call out to President Joe Biden's son "WHERE'S HUNTER?" and "IS SHE TALKING ABOUT ME?". Trump is a joke at this point: Harris accepts Democrats' nomination at boisterous DNC. Sorry Trump, no 'coup' here.
It’s exactly how to deal with insane narcissists. They want your reaction and for you to freak out. Acting indifferent and dealing with it calmly drives them crazy

Apparently the Arizona crowd was pretty huge at that Trump rally. This is GOOD to show America. We cannot have people thinking he’s losing support. You need to assume and expect that his cult is still 74 MILLION strong. Shit, I’d go as far as saying he picked up a couple million more. This is still a tight race as fucking sad as that sounds.
Do not be fooled that Trump can’t get 74 million OR MORE votes again. Help Harris and Walz but more importantly help yourself and your family by finding and trying to convince people to show up to vote. Do what you can!

We all need to be working on doing the same. Myself included. When we see them commenting on Twitter or here or in real life we just need to dismiss the noise. Don’t engage. Don’t give it any weight or time.
I was working with a Trumper recently and he started heading down the path, initially I ignored him and tried to change the subject but he tried to bring it back. That tends to happen. So finally I just said it’s weird that you think that. And I changed the subject again and he sat quietly and didn’t try again. It’s incredible how well it works. And I’m not good at it yet but I’m still trying. I think I will start using the word strange though because weird might trigger them into some other rant and I just want to shut them down.

When asked about Trump’s crowd size at his recent Glendale rally, the Harris campaign just kind of shrugged like who cares. That cracked me the hell up.

I’m sick of the pundits. Most are so negative toward the Democrats. Media personalities will be seeking a “gotcha moment” during an interview with Harris/Walz. Media personalities are addicted to the chaos and drama created by Trump. I understand people try to work out their family of origin issues in the workplace.
I love it so much. Too often Democratic politicians get bogged down by trying to counter the relentless lies and bullshit of Republicans, or to fight against the relentlessly negative concern-trolling of the corporate (aka right leaning) media. This is what going high really looks like- not wallowing in the mud with the cretins and the cranks but promoting a positive message directly to the American people.
And it is pissing them off and driving them all insane and *I love it*. Trump and Vance can’t counter it. And the press is pissed because Harris and Walz won’t take their bait of pouring cold water and whataboutism on every little thing. Screw Trump and screw the media. Let’s win this thing.

It’s the same noise they’ve been spewing for years, just transferring it to whoever happens to be in the democratic limelight. It means nothing, and should be treated as such.

The only thing I would have liked more in this article is if the author called out the NYT journalist by name. I don’t think the media is going to change or stop normalizing Trump until other members of the media start calling them out.
I remember the media all circling the wagons around the most prolific normalizer Maggie Haberman. To me, that just emboldened her and others to continue their lazy timid approach to Trump vs the way they attack Democrats.
Watch Lawrence O’Donnell’s show from the night after that ridiculous Trump press conference at Mar A Lago. He lays it out perfectly.

Good, best thing to do is pay them no mind. Responding to the childish things they take issue with only gives them more media coverage and lets them control the narrative.

Noise and weirdness from Turmp and pundits. Very weird.
Michael Forbes called it a few years ago. About the 6 minute mark but the whole thing’s worth watching again.
