Small businesses to experiment with work-nursing care balance Japan’s industry ministry will start an experimental project in August supporting efforts by smaller businesses to help employees balance work and nursing care.

The number of people providing nursing care while working is increasing as Japanese society ages, with the government estimating these carers will exceed 3 million by 2030.

Some small and mid-size businesses are having difficulty introducing a flexible working system, and personnel are not well-versed on nursing care systems.

The ministry plans to designate businesses and organizations by region, and provide consultations.

These groups are then expected to support smaller businesses in establishing in-house systems.

The ministry says the project will run until the end of this year.
