  1. His crowd size was bigger… 👀… resulting in lower viewership numbers.

    Yep. That’s why. 🤡

  2. walrus_friends on

We really should have more concrete streaming numbers at this point. More and more people view these events on their phones/computers.

Oh he’s bigly mad. Wouldn’t want to be his cleaning staff that has to clean the ketchup off the wall! 🤣

  4. They wanted to hear how she was going to fix the country, and were all subsequently disappointed.

  5. 29m was the peak viewers hip, they compared it to trumps 25m, which was his average viewership

Harris’ average was 26.2, trumps peak was 28m

I’m sure Trump is shitting himself about this but then again, it sounds like he’s pretty much always shitting himself

  9. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/business/story/2024-08-23/dnc-ratings-thump-trump-as-29-million-tv-viewers-watch-harriss-acceptance-speech) reduced by 86%. (I’m a bot)

    > Nielsen data showed that Harris' well-received acceptance speech was watched by 29 million viewers across 15 networks.

    > Harris also drew substantially more than the 24.6 million viewers who watched Joe Biden's acceptance speech at the convention in 2020 and about the same as the 29.8 million viewers who tuned in to Hillary Clinton in 2016.

    > Harris averaged 50% more viewers than Trump in Philadelphia, 36% more in Detroit, 31% more in Raleigh, N.C., and 21% more in Atlanta, according to Nielsen.

  10. And he was obviously one of them considering his rambling meltdown on every media outlet he could find

That’s about 5 million more viewers than Biden got in 2020, not that that means much but it can’t be a bad thing.

In 2020: Biden had 24.6 million, Trump had 23.8 million
In 2024: Harris had 29 million, Trump had 25.4 million

  12. I think people are really underestimating the continued Fox News effect. I saw this headline, thought of streams, and went to look at some YouTube streaming numbers. Yeah, if you look at, say, PBS News, DNC is looking pretty great. Over twice the views of RNC, comparing night 4. But are RNC viewers using PBS? Logical question so compare Fox News YouTube. Not only does their YouTube have severely flipped ratios, they also have INTENSE RNC view numbers. Enough to shift this whole “thumping” narrative. 2.5 million people watched Trump’s RNC speech on YouTube Fox News. None of the PBS numbers even matter compared to that.

  13. Who gives a shit? Really. More people watched because they hopefully wanted to hear some strong policies, instead all they saw was a deep state robot giving a speech Obama would give.

Ratings are his Achilles heal…and hand size…and height…and crowd size. He’s just a “lil tiddy baby” as my mamaw always said.

So normally this would just be an oh interesting. But with trumps fragile ego this is actually a very good thing.

We almost never put on the TV when we are on vacation, but we tuned in for this. It was well worth it, too. I feel like I understand her now, and why she would make a great leader for our country. Her statement about “a harm against one of us is a harm against all of us” and “no one should be made to fight alone” – chills. In a time of so much internal division and hate, the solidarity there moved me so much.

I’m going to need Obama to explain how big this ratings number is compared to Trumps.
