Sure, I’ll bet it’s that, and not “The threshold is much higher for the powerful few, than it is for the powerless many”. /s

  2. Some civil servants in the cabinet Office are going to be very happy that the Met have decided that using political knowledge for gambling purposes is okay

It’s completely normal conduct to receive valuable gifts from people who “take an interest” in their work as an MP.

Not even frowned upon as a rule.

It’s no surprise that this went nowhere.

95% of corruption in the country is carried out by people completely oblivious to the idea that what they are doing is wrong.

They don’t wake up and decide to take a brown envelope to make a decision.

Jim the MP is handling some work in conjunction with the regulation of lettuce wrapping.
Chris owns a large lettuce wrapping facility, and has some “sensible suggestions” he makes some good arguments and frames it well, obviously, since it’s his job.
Jim likes Chris, Chris gave his brother in law a very good job last year, and Chris has paid for several nice meals, and always buys Jim and his team seats to major football matches.

Jim makes his decisions entirely independently with no outside influence, he made no promises to Chris, but valuable input from industry was vital to rewriting the legislation.

Jim is getting annoyed at a man called Tony though, who owns a small lettuce packing facility.
Jim has never met Tony, but all he does is complain about Jim’s work, making unfounded claims that the legislation will hurt smaller businesses, despite Jim knowing full well it won’t, Chris explained it clearly.
Tony is just a trouble maker

I find it hard to believe. Several police officers were also involved. Are we meant to believe all these individuals with access to sunak all got a hunch for a flutter at the same time?

  5. Somewhat disappointing, but to be clear this is only the Met investigation:

“A separate investigation was launched by the Gambling Commission into whether their actions broke laws on “cheating”. The probe remains ongoing and could still result in criminal charges”

  6. Doesnt matter now, the scandal cemented the fate of the Tories. Thats a win in itself

  7. This country hasn’t got time to look into corruption, we’ve got too many people to jail for posting something on Facebook

  8. More lies and blatant corruption… They just all had a hunch at the same time..? Our country is sooooo cooked at this point..
The biggest frustration to me, is that, we’ve already shown to ourselves, that we can come together for the greater good… So WHY in the fuck, do we not march (peacefully) in protest towards the biggest thing that creates disruption through corruption in our lives ie. Our government and its institutions ie. the police, the media, energy companies, our supermarkets etc. Every one of those things I mentioned, has been outed to be profiteering excessively, especially over the past 5yrs, when our country, our people and its morale has been at an all time low… Why do we not march to save ourselves.. What am I missing here…??

So because the bastards got routed in the election they get the consolation prize of dropping the investigation? Laughable.
