  1. Good, people should be able to understand why letting Nazis and rapists and democracy haters use your music is bad. GOP can have kidrock.

Remember hearing Neil on a radio interview one time. He bought a vintage 4D Lincoln gas guzzler to convert it into an electric car – before electric was popular. He was always one of the good guys and this very nice gesture shows him well.

  3. NPR had an article on the history of presidential music yesterday morning. “Nixon’s the One” was the last original composition. It (the article) is about seven minutes long.

  4. Ironically, the song is not about patriotism. There is some optimism in the last verse.

    “Rockin’ In The Free World”

    There’s colors on the street
    Red, white and blue
    People shufflin’ their feet
    People sleepin’ in their shoes
    But there’s a warnin’ sign
    on the road ahead
There’s a lot of people sayin’
    we’d be better off dead
    Don’t feel like Satan,
    but I am to them
So I try to forget it,
    any way I can.

Keep on rockin’ in the free world,
Keep on rockin’ in the free world
Keep on rockin’ in the free world,
Keep on rockin’ in the free world.

I see a woman in the night
With a baby in her hand
    Under an old street light
    Near a garbage can
Now she puts the kid away,
and she’s gone to get a hit
    She hates her life,
and what she’s done to it
    There’s one more kid
that will never go to school
Never get to fall in love,
    never get to be cool.

Keep on rockin’ in the free world,
Keep on rockin’ in the free world
Keep on rockin’ in the free world,
Keep on rockin’ in the free world.

We got a thousand points of light
    For the homeless man
    We got a kinder, gentler,
    Machine gun hand
    We got department stores
    and toilet paper
    Got styrofoam boxes
    for the ozone layer
Got a man of the people,
    says keep hope alive
    Got fuel to burn,
    got roads to drive.

Keep on rockin’ in the free world,
Keep on rockin’ in the free world
Keep on rockin’ in the free world,
Keep on rockin’ in the free world

I think the trump campaign playing “Fortunate Son” by CCR was the height of hypocrisy, but the day ain’t over yet…

  6. “Waaah waah, it’s not fair, they let him do it but I can’t? How is that fair? I should be able to do whatever I want all the time and have people praise me for it!”

-The last bit of surviving neural circuitry before it gets garfed by Trump’s dementia on the way out the mouth.

As a fellow Canadian, I applaud Neil for his lifetime of support for the good people of this world.

Me owns a vinyl version beside a CD version of Neil Young’s “Harvest” Album.

  9. “Small Town” is a both a great song and fit for his image. Republicans don’t even realize he’s so much more like them than both Trump and Vance combined. A guy with a rural upbringing, who didn’t come from money, attended public schools and public universities, owns no stocks, was a 24 year military man, was a public school teacher, and was a winning football coach sounds like the kind of dream Republican candidate that could only be a fictional caricature.

  10. Neil is more American than Don could dream of being. Check out his song “Already Great,” which is basically what he thought of the MAGA movement. Haha obvious Neil doesn’t write hits like he used to, but I always listen to the new music and the message

  11. It’s a really high-energy song, but goddamn the lyrics are rough for the usage as an outro last night. It seemed a pretty poor choice for the moment when they’re trying to project optimism.

Somebody had to clean ketchup off the walls of mar-a-lago again when he heard about this!

  13. So surprising, Neil Young isn’t a rabid right-wing nut. He’s never supported liberal causes before. /s

    How about some real news?

Somehow his song “Piece of Crap” needs to be linked to Trump.

    Figure it out folks. 😁

  15. It was such a joy watching the DNC this week knowing that they had the blessing to use all these great songs from great artists while the RNC was stuck playing Kid Rock on repeat.
