I suppose he claims the lockdowns damaged the mental health of people.

He’s been jailed for calling the police “scum” in Rotherham… The same police force which institutionally abetted the mass racialised and systematic rape of an estimated 2,000 girls…
> He was filmed calling the police “scum”.
His sign and protest was not unlawful, but his verbal abuse towards police officers during the “racist incident” crossed the line, the judge added.
**2 years and 8 months prison sentence for this.**
Can’t even label a bunch of pedo-enablers “scum” in this country without the Keirstapo coming after you.

Does anything else think that 2 years 8 months is excessive for his crime?

I’ve a friend in firearms, and he can’t believe the length of the sentences given out to this low IQ individuals…..for the recent riots. It’s the no bail that he can’t get his head round 👍

Why are these guys all pleading guilty, the charges seem so flimsy any decent lawyer should be able to take them apart in court
People keep harping on about the fact that there’s no spaces in the prisons. This is a zero sum game. Sending him there means one less space for scum like this thief, for when he’s out and yet, inexplicably, this grandad is still in.
When will those in charge understand that actually being violently, personally, robbed is a worse crime – a worse infringement on my rights, than being called an offensive word?

People on Reddit simultaneously believe these people are human scum who deserve the book thrown at them. If we had the death penalty, they’d be call for it.
And they also believe that in any other circumstance when criminals (actual violent criminals who’ve actually hurt people) get hit with prison time you have to ask? What was their home life like? Why did they feel like they had to do this act? Will prison just harden them as criminals?
The difference in sympathy is shocking. Talk about double standards.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the UK attempts to make peaceful protesting illegal in the future.

Amazing how during the election prison overcrowding was a huge issue Labour swore they’d solve, and since being in power for under 2 months, they’ve now found enough space in prisons for multi-year sentences for people that said rude things to police …
