Not really a good look for this section of the Jewish community to so openly declare they don’t feel like following the law.

Wait how can a Jewish circumcision be illegal?

*Reads that the dude wasn’t a doctor of any sort*

    Oh my!

‘Expert in Jewish law’ aka advanced studies in generational fairytales.

  4. If the law under which he’s being prosecuted was enacted in 2007, and there have been hundreds of Jewish ritual circumcisions since then, why is this the first case to actually be brought to court?

Obviously its illegal, but the timing is suspicious.

  5. It’s a tradition that goes back about 3000 years.  Would we not be better using our police and legal resources to deal with the huge number of scumbags robbing, vandalising and assaulting people in our cities?

Ah lads come on now don’t be so antisemitic. A man from England should be allowed come over and chop the top of a baby’s dick off if he wants to because his religion says so.

I hate religions – all religions – everything f about them is abhorrent – rape children ? Fine. Abuse children? Fine. Mutilate children? Fine. Treat women like third class citizens up to and including killing them for being women? Fine…..what the f&€k is wrong with people’s Brains this day and age believing in Sky Wizards so that they can justify any horror they like? When will human evolve beyond this ignorance ?

  8. I personally don’t care whatever BS anyone’s religion prescribes them to perform. If a minor is involved and their body is permanently altered in any way shape or form you are an abuser. You are free to believe in whatever nonsense you wish, but imposing medical procedures upon a child is wrong. There is no grey area around it.

  9. Claims of compliance with religious law should be treated as irrelevant to conviction, and as an aggravating factor in sentencing. This should apply equally to Jewish Law, Sharia and Canon Law.

Hi all, been following this case and just wanted to offer a different perspective. First of all, Irish courts have affirmed that following this practice for religious beliefs IS allowed. And that’s also affirmed through most of the Human Rights approaches to freedom of religion across Europe.

While it wouldn’t be my choice, it is a widely accepted safe practice and trained traveling practitioners are also generally acceptable, including in Irish law. Whether or not you want it for your or your child, it is legal, and not just for Jews but also for Muslims, which are the two religions who practice this. If you read up a little you will find the consensus difference between this and female genital mutilation. I’m not saying I’m totally convinced myself but fortunately it isn’t a decision i have to make!

The question here that I have is: who ratted? I mean, how did the guards “know” to raid this house? I don’t blame any guards; they are following the law they know; but they must have been clued in from someone and I’m really curious about that!
