Aka, the Katie Price defence. Seems like being a single parent makes you untouchable in the eyes of the law.

Why is no one here astonished that verbally abusing cops is a crime ? It is a bloody civic duty.

Good. It would be an absolutely insane waste of public money, prison space, and have potentially life-ruining consequences to imprison her just for shouting at people. Just a shame this wasn’t applied to all the others who were unfairly locked up.

What a stupid headline. If she got jail I would bet good money they already had “Mum and full-time carer of disabled boy jailed for swearing” on the burner.

If she was a man she would be receiving a 4 year sentence. This is the real two tier justice playing out.

I thought this is what people meant by two tier policing. Because it is.

Two Tier policing, just it benefits the whites so they wont mention it.

Unacceptable. She broke the law. A bloke has been sent to prison for two years for smearing bacon on a mosque…. She gets nothing because single mum. What a load of shit. If you in any way take care of yourself and do the right the thing, the country just takes that a license to fuck you.
Obscene abuse should not be against law lmao. Charging police should be.

It’s amazing how all these people have children that work in journalism. “Mum did this” “Dad did that.” It may not be a very professional writing style but I guess it’s hard when it’s your own mum.

Running and shouting shouldn’t be a jail sentence for anyone.

I really wish they would stop opening these headlines with “Mother/Mum”. It’s has no relevance to the story and is trying to convey sympathy to the alleged antagonist.

She hurdled abuse and “charged” at a copper, and that was regarded as assaulting an emergency worker? What exactly is “charging”? Running? That warranted jail time had it not been for her being a single mum?
Am I missing something?
Where are all the MDL goons brandishing swords and machetes being locked up?

No, this isn’t two tier anything.
This is something that absolutely should be read first by anyone who hasn’t (1) practical experience of working in the criminal justice system and (2) is going to start mouthing off about two tier things: [https://thesecretbarrister.com/2024/08/14/two-tier-justice-cutting-through-the-online-myths/](https://thesecretbarrister.com/2024/08/14/two-tier-justice-cutting-through-the-online-myths/)
She was convicted of an offence of assault, not a public order offence. The title (and OP) emphasize the abuse, but it was the assault. The judge separated this from the earlier disorder, so she is a different case from the violent disorder convictions we have read about.
She has a *suspended* sentence of four months. That’s still a custodial sentence. I appreciate there’s a difference of opinion about whether that is soft or not, but we have been doing this that way a long time.
But the sentence looks consistent with things I saw when I did this kind of work. She has previous good character (which she won’t now), confessed immediately at the police interview and pleaded guilty promptly. Those will have fed into the sentence and included the 1/3 off.

This is just woman privilege
Women receive far lesser sentences than men for similar crimes
And considering how light the country seems ti be on sentencing anyone at the moment, women basically get a free pass

Leeds: police abandon the area for hours, then talk to councillors and community leaders to calm the crowd and ‘understand people’s concerns’.
Far-right protests: police confront people in full riot gear. Hundreds of people are jailed for ‘shouting at police’, ‘throwing bricks at police’, ‘assaulting police’ etc.
I heard an ex Met Commissioner the other day explaining that this was because the Leeds riots were spontaneous so police couldn’t respond forcefully, whereas the far-right rallies were announced beforehand so they were fully prepared to stop the disorder. Maybe the Police should consider what effect their own actions have on these situations

shouting abuse isn’t a crime, especially towards the police, even swearing isn’t a crime, this has been shown in court cases.

She ran at police swearing and avoided jail? So she should!
You just need to watch these police shows where the real scum drive 100mph with no licence or insurance and get away with it, the absolute scum who terrorise the police and community and get away with it, the thieves stealing £199 worth of stuff and getting away with it.
Yes when someone shouts because they are unhappy with the mass illegal migration that Labour is making worse then Boom 💥 big sentences for everyone.
What the side effect, letting out over 2000 prisoners early and the majority of them are free to commit crime again!
