The cases of Hezbollah hitmen İhsan Baran, codenamed Şeyhmus, and Metin Avut, codenamed Ata, who executed 31 citizens by firing a single bullet into their necks in the middle of the street, were dropped due to the statute of limitations after 30 years. The arrest warrant against them was lifted.

Despite 30 years passing between the 31 murders they committed, the two hitmen have never been caught.

İhsan Baran was also included in the grey category of the Ministry of Interior’s list of those wanted for terrorism, which carries a reward of 500 thousand liras.

The high criminal court decided to drop the case filed against the two hitmen, who had an arrest warrant out for their arrest, because the 30-year statute of limitations for the crime they committed had expired.
