I’m guessing that deeper in Ukranian territory, where enemy long range AAMs and GBAD are not a concern, helicopter chin guns can be a very cost-effective solution to the long-range attack drone problem.

Interesting, how to prevent a friendly AA fire in this case?

The operation is much cheaper than that of a MiG-29 and the ammunition used is cheaper than an R-73 missile. It is a good idea to use helicopters, they fly high enough to have a wide view of where the drones are without them hiding in the relief by flying low, but they still have a much lower operating cost than a fighter

but why the flares? I assume it is over friendly area.

A bit overkill for the autocannon I say, those rounds gotta land somewhere. If it can keep up, how about a couple dudes with PKMs hanging out in the [troop compartment?](https://imodeler.com/uploads/2024/01/d/dvmozley_240114_65a37b5532c00.jpg)
