Let’s make that awkward teenage who’s just had a bad break up and said a few choice things about women a terrorist
Or the fat kid who’s had no luck with women
Yes the most extreme incels are terrorists I can accept that
But the average one no I don’t think they are

Here we go.
No one will argue against violence towards woman will they. But now the police get all those additional powers to use against anyone who is reported to refer to a woman as ‘love’. The next one will be trans violence and it will be used for anyone who questions whether or not someone should be using the male or female toilet.
We are basically a Stasi state.

Say something online that offends someone and the subjective opinion of our political class, go to jail. The world is laughing at us right now.

Wonder what this does with regard to porn videos or stories… Particularly the ‘kink’ ones featuring bondage and such.

Extremism of any kind should be dealt with proportional to the harms it causes. That said, designating something as terrorism grants some incredibly wide ranging counter terrorism powers that ought to be used only in the most extraordinary cases. There are things you can do to prevent terrorism that you cannot do for ordinary crime. Those power are necessary but they should be very narrow.

Will extreme misandry also be treated as terrorism?

This would be better focused in the police’s piss poor response to DV. and before the ‘whataboutists’ start, I’m referring to female and male DV perps, or their lackadaisical response to stalking/coercion.
All this will do is drive young men into the arms of Andrew Tate et al, we need connection with disaffected young people, not criminalising them like that’ll solve the problem

I wonder if repeatedly interrupting your wife counts, as Ed Balls did to the originator of this legislation in a tv interview

Terrorism is defined as political isn’t it? What does sexism have to do with politics? Or are they changing the definition of the word again, to suit their needs?

It should only be treated as “terrorism” when there is imminent attack incoming with a threat to life. Not just because someone posts a blonde joke on FB.

We live in a world where women are specifically targeted for violence by individuals and groups that see them as a legitimate target for attack for religious, political and personal reasons. Their reasons vary superficially, but always boil down to a belief that women should be subjugated in a hierarchy that places them beneath men.
I don’t see any reason why that shouldn’t be treated as terrorism.

More concerned with the precedent this could end up setting down the line.
Where is the line with any issue? What is the unmovable definition of extreme? Forget misogyny, I mean ANY issue?
What happens IF in future a government opposed to your beliefs comes to power (very likely over anyones lifetime) and starts creeping these powers to other issues.
Personally I don’t care much what happens to extreme misogynists but I do care about whether this use case will be replicated against other forms of anti establishment thinking in future.

How concerning that a lot of people here are getting all offended at this, something that should have happened long ago, and downplaying misogynist behaviours that have been exacerbated in our society in the past few years. A lot of people are acting as if criticising a woman or saying something will get you jailed, as if that happens with anything else. Seems like people need remembering of people like Josh Davison in Plymouth and the impact it has. Something like he did wasn’t previously classed as terrorism despite causing wide spread terror led by an ideology. Hopefully this classification can help people realise and be made aware of damaging behaviours and help put a stop to it before it gets out of control.Â

Even though extreme misogyny is a very serious problem, I don’t know if designating it as a form of terrorism is the right way to go.
It almost seems like it needs to be categorised separately and dealt with appropriately.
Otherwise this seems like it could become very authoritarian.

Does that mean the government will finally address the misogyny within the Islam community?

Yet extreme misandry is on display day in and day out. So glad this country is dying its own death. So much glee I get. UK is no place for men, and no wonder it is becoming shittier by the day , the more feminists are catered too. Poor, undeveloped with no prospects. Uk run by feminists. Who would have thunk.

Of course the top comments are male icons showing they don’t think this is a good idea, or how it affects porn.

I’m yet to see a convincing and consistent link between language online and actual violence against women.
We have all gone completely mad for language .

What counts as extreme? Will this be an enhancement they can put on a charge if there is a serious assault or murder ? or will it be less extreme than that and cover social media posts?
