I enjoy music as many of us do and I do love finding old music steeped in tradition and history that has modern iterations and reiterations.
Some of you may be familiar with this if you grew up in the west or just like popular music in general or if you commonly listen to Armenian and other Mediterranean music. Its called Misirlou and the tune originated (far as i can tell in the Mediterranean common in Greek, Arabic, Armenian, and Hebrew (possibly Aramaic/Turkish though im not sure)
I found this old recording of an Armenian version of the song https://youtu.be/7f_-nTb4wHs?si=DAuXiTAQ5wJ-klq2
Was wondering if anyone knows of any good modern adaptations of this song and lyrics to go along with it?
I originally thought that this was an Arab song when i learned of dick dale (surf rock) was of Lebanese descent only to learn of its Greek and Armenian adaptions which are older.
Originally i heard the tune via the sample made of dick dales version from the black eyed pease pump it song
Does anyone know the origin of this song in Armenian culture? If it were originally western or eastern?
