  1. Ngl, an average of £2000 a year over a decade given to the opposition party doesn’t seem like the type of donation one would make if they were actively trying to buy influence.

If the Tories had won the last GE and this story was about a Conservative donor receiving a director role at His Majesty’s Treasury – Redditors would be all over it and completely outraged.

But the reaction to this is strangely muted, I wonder why 😇

Absolute silence from people like the good law project – what a surprise lmao

I’d be more concerned if he had no qualifications for the job , was a mate or was shagging Reeves .

….seems to be sour grapes by ousted MP, who suddenly seems concerned about integrity.

£20k over 10 years isn’t that much, if he is highly skilled and a suitable candidate for the job his political spending shouldn’t come up in anyway whilst selecting the candidate.

It’s still not a good look after the flagrant corruption we have experienced over the last few years

Most people would be outraged if it was the Conservatives that had won and it was a Tory donor but I guess “at least its not the Tories” then its completely ok. As if Labour haven’t literally just transformed into the Tories in all but name…

  7. God I’m torn in these situations. Political donors shouldn’t be put into appointments like this, but boy do I love watching Tories stamping their feet like powerless children
