Hello redditors, I have seen a couple of posts here and on r/askswitzerland related to job hunting so I’m sharing my recent experience in case someone finds the information helpful or interesting. The image shows the Sankey diagram of my job hunting journey.

Some info about me:
+ Recently graduated from a Swiss university (PhD)
+ Third country national (Non-EU)
+ 2 years of working experience in industry (in my home country)
+ Student resident permit B
+ Basic German knowledge (A2) and currently learning

Job hunting info:
+ The whole process took 2 months (from first application till accepted offer)
+ IT related field
+ Mainly used LinkedIn for job searching (but I applied directly on the companies’ websites when possible)
+ I only applied to jobs advertised in English (and that do not require German/French/Italian)
+ I added a cover letter in 9 (out of 32) applications.

Additional info:
+ The company that hired me sponsored the work permit. It was granted by the Swiss authorities under the following reason (Zulassungsgrund): Aufenthaltsbewilligung nach Art. 20 VZAE. Abweichung vom Inländervorrang nach Art. 21 Abs. 3 AIG (Zulassung von Ausländerinnen und Ausländern mit Schweizer Hochschulabschluss).

Templates used:
+ For CV I used (a modified version of) the following: [https://www.overleaf.com/latex/templates/clean-cv-template/rcqjkxnfsmnz](https://www.overleaf.com/latex/templates/clean-cv-template/rcqjkxnfsmnz)
+ I based my cover letter on this: [https://www.zhaw.ch/storage/shared/upload/Sample\_Cover\_letter\_HSG.pdf](https://www.zhaw.ch/storage/shared/upload/Sample_Cover_letter_HSG.pdf)

Did you run into companies rejecting you right away because you’re non-EU or how did you find companies willing to sponsor the work permit?
