Finally, a candidate who has real policies that will *kinda* help renters and buyers. This and banning price gouging on food would impact nearly all Americans’ pocket books in a positive way.

This is potentially big and of real importance to a lot of middle class people (such as myself). Go Kamala go. But don’t assume anything people, get off your butt and vote no matter what. And check now to see if you’re registered cleanly, many attempts will be made at disenfranchisement this fall over petty issues to stop votes.

Freed from the baggage of both old democrats and progressives, and taking the time to create her own platform, and not rush to sit down to interviews, she can target the most important social issues that plague voters with fairly obvious solutions. All with laser focus.

No one should be able to buy a home unless they (or family members or loved ones) are getting ready to move into it.

Wait, so I knew there wasn’t any restrictions on “Wall St Investors” buying residential homes, but they also get a fucking tax break while screwing over an entire generation who can’t afford a first home?

That’s the good shit.
Should go a step further and and increase the tax burden for every residential home past the first one except for apartments.
One home? Cool. Second home? Fine. Vacation home? Sure. Fourth home? Well now you’re getting greedy. All of the homes? Yeah, move that shit fast or be taxed to hell and back.

> WASHINGTON – Vice President Harris' campaign on Thursday will roll out some of her housing policy proposals, including her support for efforts aimed at lowering the cost of rent and helping renters who are struggling financially, according to details obtained by NBC News from a campaign official.
> Harris will propose plans to stop data firms from driving up lease rates and plans aimed at stopping Wall Street investors from buying up and reselling homes in bulk at a higher price, according to the proposal.
> As part of the rollout, Harris will call on Congress to pass the Preventing the Algorithmic Facilitation of Rental Housing Cartels Act, a bill introduced by Sens.

The number of private and corporate investors buying dozens, hundreds, thousands of family homes is staggering. That needed to be illegal from the start. There always should have been the idea that everyone who wants a house should be able to own one, but you only get one. It’s not just a US problem either.

Companies and investors should only be allowed to buy/resell homes when nobody in the country is homeless. Also, if someone owns multiple homes and any of them go unused for more than half the year, they should be taxed through the nose.

Hedge funds and corporate conglomerates should be prohibited from purchasing mortgages and single and two family homes, full stop. They should be prohibited from doubling and tripling rents and engaging in Airbnb arbitrage.

There seems to be quite a bit to unpack. The article does stipulate this really affects corporate rental firms and the propublica link within the article on Sen. Welch’s official site clarifies collusion between two or more ”coordinators” unlawful if such a merger results in lowering competition (basically anti monopoly).
The wording does seem to exempt small land lords unless a whole mess of them all group up together in a single market, I guess.
