    >“I’m going to say it again, as clearly as I can: I am damn proud of my service to this country. And I firmly believe that you should never denigrate another person’s service record. Anyone brave enough to put on that uniform for our great country—including my opponent—I just have a few simple words: thank you for your service and sacrifice,” he said.

Vance is married and attacks trans people but has been outed as a man who wears women’s clothing and makeup. He refuses to explain why he lied to his wife and the American people. He refuses to address the dating app whistleblower. He is living in abject fear and self hate.

  3. Just like in school, bullies do their thing until the teacher shows up and puts them in their place.

  4. Kind of wish he pointed out Vance wrote press releases in an air conditioned building for a few months but whatevs

  5. Ironic that that MAGA attacks Walz military service when their candidate, Pvt Bonespurs, did everything in his power to avoid the draft.

  6. I genuinely think this is how they will win- they’re not afraid to call out Trump’s ridiculous behavior and lies- and can be smart and snarky about it too- which I love- but it doesn’t cost their integrity. When I saw this moment in his speech, I felt so proud and happy that I support Harris and Walz.

  7. Is their entire argument about stolen valor based on some corrected edits on Wikipedia? As far as I can tell that’s the only example they point to of Walz claiming a service record he doesn’t possess.

  8. The guy has main event energy. It’s a shame he can’t officially serve as the role of president together with Harris.

I think it’s a dumb attack by Vance and has very little merit, but I don’t necessarily agree that this is a perfect takedown. It feels like Walz is using the tried and true method of changing the question when you don’t have a great answer. I really think Walz should just say he misspoke (and I think the campaign has said that) when he carried weapons in war and leave it at that. The other stuff about abandoning his unit is just dumb and a big stretch.

  10. By JD’s own logic, he’s also a deserter who left his unit and the military during a period of war. He terminated his service in 2007. US stayed in two wars for some years after that. Maybe he’s the only one allowed to have life/career plans outside of the military?? GOP standard Good for me, not for thee bullshit

He’s nicer than I am. I would have said I don’t have to take that shit from a corporal with an office job.

Tim Walz seems to have the perfect takedown for everything Republican.

I’ve been begging democrats to take a conservative spin on Republican issues for years now, and we might finally be there.

This is grade-A “get the government out of my life” sort of stuff that should appeal to *actual* conservatives.

  13. It’s the GOP trying to make pile of BS out of a nothing burger. The campions already said he misspoke. That’s it…game over.

  14. Apropos of almost nothing: I get my haircut at an all male barbershop in a southern part of America. The barbers and their clientele are very conservative. I just got my haircut today and for the first time in a long time, there was not one mention of politics. Just regular old men shooting the shit about sports, the weather and women. If nothing else, it seems that the surge of Harris/Walz in the polls has shut some of them up.

  15. Love how he said it bad to lie about service and the next paragraph admits that he lied about it. Fun times in America.

The GOP can’t stand that service men and women are straight republicans anymore. They’ve been attacking liberal service members since at least the 60s.

  17. When you sign up for service, there is a chance you can be put into extreme danger and killed. Cooks still serve in war zones. The military bands can be in war zones. These people still have the potential to be hit by a stray rocket or terrorist attack where they are houses despite not being in combat. I would not care what my role was. I would be TERRIFIED to go into a war zone.

  18. It takes something like 5 or 6 support personnel for every 1 combat solider.

Shame on the GOP for acting like combat defines service. The people serving meals, cleaning toilets, handling paperwork, proving healthcare and all the other support services are *crucial* to our military.

  19. Is it, ” Tell the little corporal to be at parade rest when he accuses the Command Sergeant Major of stealing valor”?

  20. Walz has dealt with wayward schoolchildren like J.D., and will have some insight and perhaps a few critiques of the couch fuckers views.

I’m not worried, and no one else should stay awake with anxiety about this. If the two debate, I’ll be like Michael Jackson eating all the popcorn, watching Walz talk to him like the lost fatherless child J.D. truly is.

Walz isn’t playing when he stated he can handle the back and forth with this misguided young man, in contrast. He will put all the holes in the views he’s being paid for by his on the down-low crush and potential lover, Peter Thiel, and his other technocrat bros.

  21. Walz has joined Buttigeig, for me, in their ability to calmly communicate with both clarity and nuance, and express a complete idea with the intelligence to them defend it against bullshit comebacks.

Frankly, I was thrilled that there was at least one.

Republicans are forgetting that the most important factor when swiftboating someone is to never have the campaign speak to the accusations. You’re supposed to have your shooters spread the rumors for you because speaking it out loud makes you look like a bunch of petty little worms. Which, well…

  23. He’s playing the victim card. He lied about his rank repeatedly and lied about being in combat.

  24. The Minnesota National Guard has a perfect takedown with confirmation of everything Walz was saying.

Tim Walz’s personality and way of talking is so much like my father it’s incredible; I get overwhelmed, even resembles him physically. My old man passed away like a thunderbolt one sad day of April in a year I’d rather forget about.

I don’t mind Vance and their ilk attacking Walz. That’s par for the course in an election. What I do mind is the media putting out bad faith headlines and doing nothing to add context to the “controversy” unless it’s negative context to instill doubt about Walz to keep the drama going.

  27. ProvenceNatural65 on

But I mean…he did lie about being in combat, right? How does this statement acknowledge that?

  28. GreatPotatoSuperstar on

Yup… shouldn’t normalize disparaging someone’s military service. Glad he didn’t take that any further.
