Olympic flag arrives in Los Angeles aboard passenger plane The Olympic flag aboard a passenger airplane from Paris has arrived in Los Angeles, which hosts the next Summer Games in 2028.

At the closing ceremony of the Paris Games, a pre-recorded video showed American movie star Tom Cruise skydiving into Hollywood carrying the flag.

The Olympic flag arrived in Los Angeles on Monday. People in a waiting crowd took photos of the aircraft painted with the Olympic logo. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass stepped off the plane waving the flag, drawing loud applause.

Bass said, “I think one of the things I’m the most excited about is the way they turned the Olympics in Paris to be the Olympics for everyone, whether you participated in the Games or not.”

“I hope that the excitement continues in L.A. and we do all we need to do to get ready for 2028.”

2028 will be the third time for the second-largest US city to host the Olympic Games. The previous events were in 1932 and 1984.

The four-year countdown started in the California city following the closing of the Paris Games. The 2028 Games have been featured in special TV programs and on the front pages of newspapers.
