WTF?
These monitors were brought in to replace the dated Lifepak 15 monitors, which were bulky but worked and were simple to use.
They were trialed in the Leinster area by select crews and the feedback was overwhelmingly negative however in typical NAS management style they ignored the actual workers on the ground, and were subsidised nicely for the contract.
Since the rollout of the Zoll X series advanced last year its been nothing but failure after failure. This one on the article is only the tip of the ice berg. I myself had had 2 failures during a cardiac arrest very similar to the one described in the article. I haven’t spoken to the media but it sounds very much like the had happen to me where the machine powered off during a cardiac arrest.
Not only that but the failure rate for all the other basic functions such as ECG tracings, blood pressure monitoring etc is staggering. But the contract is for 10 years so there’s no changing them.
