They will need two other sub 50 runners to win a medal.

So proud of the girls that represented Ireland 🇮🇪, they are all queen’s but Adeleke is the future record breaker for us in LA.

A few of those are extremely dubious also.

People are disappointed that they didn’t get a medal but I think we should be happy that they pulled off a well executed race. You can’t magically make people faster overnight, all you can do is perform the best you can, which I think they did.

Yeah I was just looking at the times after the race t’other night. I think there are 7 countries (USSR, USA, GDR, Russia, Jamaica, Netherlands and GB). They now have the 43rd 4x400m relay time of all time. That’s fantastic.

Just heard one of them talk about it on Newstalk. I didn’t know (I’m abroad) but they took 3 seconds off the national record and if I heard right the time would have been in the medals in any other Olympics of the last 24 years. Fair dues.

Serious achievement. No shame in getting that close but missing out.

Apparently the time would’ve been good enough to win silver at every Olympics bar 1988, some going
