Why Armenians who lived with Udis in Sheki-Shemakha are so rarely talked about? They seem to be assimilated Caucasian Albanians

It would be interesting to see a joint Udi-Armenian Caucasian Albanian state emerging there during WWI. Nuxa-Zakatala-Sheki area is very culturally distinct

  2. For the last 100 years after Azerbaijan was created , during Armeno-Azerbaijani war and soviet occupation , the Armenians of Shemakha were repressed , athnically cleansed and massacred. The last time when Armenians were there was in like 1988. They were deported into Armenia.

They were already heavily assimilated by pa rsi .ks before tu .rk ic people came to the region.

I dont understand why there is this misconception that we assimilated them. We didn’t at the very least not actively while our southern neighbours always followed an active course of assimilation if your population wasn’t strong willed or numerous they assimilated you.

This is precisely the reason Christianity saved armenians from the fate of being swallowed by them.

We really need to stop this whole way of thinking our southern neighbours were a brotherly nation to us they were colonisers who were blocked from their colonising efforts by another coloniser.

  4. Most of the Armenians in Shaki moved there from Karabakh, specifically Jraberd, after Melik Shahnazars betrayal. They were lead by their Meliks from the Melik-Alaverdyan branch in moving there.
