Japan PM declines to comment on ambassadors' absence from Nagasaki ceremony Japan’s Prime Minister Kishida Fumio says the annual ceremony to mark the atomic bombing of Nagasaki is hosted by the city, and that the central government is not in a position to comment on matters such as the attendance of diplomatic delegations.

Kishida spoke to reporters on Friday after attending the ceremony, from which ambassadors from the Group of Seven nations were absent.

He said the government has always been engaged in various communications with diplomatic delegations and the city of Nagasaki, including the provision of information on international affairs.

He added that he will refrain from giving further details.
