New S.Korean envoy to Japan expresses resolve to further develop bilateral ties South Korea’s new ambassador to Japan has expressed his resolve to further develop bilateral relations.

Park Cheol-hee arrived in Japan on Friday morning.

Speaking to reporters at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, he said not only are the leaders and governments of both countries engaging more actively, but so are the people.

He said it is his mission to harness this momentum to establish an unshakable, irreversible relationship between South Korea and Japan.

Referring to next year’s 60th anniversary of the normalization of bilateral relations, Park said he is eager to go anywhere if it will contribute to the two countries’ relationship of trust and cooperation.

The new ambassador has long studied Japanese politics and is known as an expert on Japan’s political circles.

South Korea’s government has expressed hope that Park will contribute to forging a future-oriented bilateral relationship, based on the expertise he has accumulated and the networks he has built.
