Refuting denial: Help

Hi everyone,

I’m Turkish, I recognize the Armenian Genocide (along with the myriad of Turkey’s other crimes) and my friend and I are working on a documentary to de-brainwash other Turks and debunk all the nationalist crap that comprises Turkey’s state and popular ideology. I’d like some clarification on the following, please.

A common set of arguments used in génocide denial is « we never sent any orders to kill the Armenians » (BS), « all the ones allegedly showing we did are fake » (obviously more BS), and « we even sent orders to protect the Armenians. » That last one, I’m not so sure how to refute: unlike the earlier two, orders do seemingly exist for Armenians to be protected and fed, etc until they reach their destination. But obviously that’s in complete contrast to the proven genocidal policy of the CUP being implemented.

Were these orders:
1) from dissenting officials who refused to partake in the genocide and were later punished for it? E.g. Mehmet Celal Bey
2) saying to protect on the surface but were actually « coded » telegrams that meant something else upon further examination
3) just fake altogether, not even coded messages, just to « satisfy » foreign powers demanding to stop the atrocities?
Any further clarification and elaboration is really appreciated. Thank you very much in advance!
