  1. There are positives and negatives about this

    **Positive:**

    * Gardai are now taking road traffic reports online so you no longer need to go into a station
    * Should allow for a lot more folks to get involved in making the roads safer
    * Will absolutely see an increase in reports for parking offences

    **Negatives:**

    * Its bizarre that you can’t upload evidence with the report and this must be dealt with separately after a Garda has assessed your report to see if it qualifies as an offence…….without the benefit of evidence

My guess is the negative I mentioned means the majority of reports will get dismissed as not an offense

  2. Probably just makes it easier to ignore reports. If they were serious there’d be more enforcement already and requirements for all road users to have some sort of registration or similar to make them easily identifiable. Pretty useless if the offender is a bike/e-bike or scooter for example.

  3. There will be people driving around with the sole intent of catching the people the gardai normally ignore.

  4. I look forward to passing the details on of all the Toyota/Nissan users that pull up in the middle of the road, attempt to park on a full street, put the hazard lights on, hold up traffic then put their hands out to signal the traffic to cross over onto the right lane with oncoming traffic coming at speed.
