  1. Of course it is. Two of the biggest routes in the city have continuous antisocial behaviour by scumbag little fucks who never get punished.

There’s no money that would make a reasonable person do a shit job with absolutely no support with the risk of getting the head beat off you by some inbred little cunts.

Either offer security, or punish the offenders. But neither will happen, because fuck us, I guess.

A driver told me one thing that would put me and plenty more off driving for bus eireann, youre not paid between runs, so if youre in the airport for 2 hours waiting until return time, youre off the clock, ridiculous carry on.

  3. There’s a shortage of drivers everywhere, especially for cross-country routes. A relative of mine is in the business and said it’s very hard to get drivers for the past few years. Increase to pay is an option but punters don’t want to pay higher fares either.

  4. From talking to people who work in the areas where there are shortages like this, it isn’t actually money that’s the problem, the pay is grand, it’s the working conditions.

At the end of the day, who is going to put themselves in harms way and listen to shite, day in and day out, for any amount of money.

Drive a bus living myself, the hours are shite, one week you’ll be due in work at 5am, the following week you’ll be working in the door finished at 1am. The money isn’t great and you can’t even take holidays when you want. They will tell you when ur specific 2 week summer holiday is. You have to deal with all sorts of people, the majority are perfectly but it will take only 1 to ruin your day.

  6. It’s almost like the low pay and lack of safety for drivers is pushing peo0le away from this job
