Thats rough taking a demo mission late in your astronaut career to have more family time, be home for christmas, etc and finding out you’re actually on an ISS rotation + 2 months

  2. 8 days? That’s a typo in your mission brief, it’s actually 8 *months*.

And yes, spaceship-by-vibes is a good way to kill a contract (looking at you, Boeing). Why is Boeing like this?

Please, please Weird Al– do a spoof of the Gilligan’s Island theme song about this.

    “A three-orbit tour… A threeeeee-orbit tour…”

Somebody should do a spacewalk and paint “SS Minnow” on the side of that thing.

So that, kids, is how Starliner disappeared into the dustbins of history. And it’s how the grinch, cough fucking Elon Musk cough, became an even bigger pain on the side of the neck.

A few years later hollywood will make a movie out of it of course they will show Boeing as victims.

“Once in space, the crew discovered helium leaks in the Starliner’s propulsion system and thruster failures that have led to a series of delays.”

My ass. The helium leaks were known before the launch. They chose to proceed with the launch despite knowing that there were helium leaks.

  8. Beta products release upon the population and now transferred to peak showcase technology. I hope they have Space X send a Dragon to get them sooner. This is what happens when an engineering company becomes strictly a business.

  9. What happens to the Starliner capsule? Do they jettison it at some point? Doesn’t seem like a good idea as it was built to survive re-entry so would need to be de-orbited in a controlled manner that would minimize any risk and the core problem seems to be with the FCS thrusters. The published service life of the capsule in docked orbit is 7 months so this looks bad.

  10. When travel usually pack for a day extra – just in case there are issues with the transport etc. I bet these guys did not anticipate or prepare for this delay.

They are both going to have major health issues on return to earth. They trained and prepped for 10 days.. not 8 months. Potentially life long issues with bones and muscles decreasing in density and atrophy.

    Thanks, Boeing!

Gd-it if I didn’t see this coming a week before launch, scrub after scrub!

Man, these guys – what can one say?

Adding another suckass company to my openly short list! I’ve had just about enough of this stinky company. Time to bring’em down!
