So if I understand this correctly: a magnetar surrounded by a plasma shell (presumably left over from when it was a star and exploded); and the magnetic field excites the plasma, causing it to release a persistent radio signal? And this magnetar is also the proposed source of an FRB although it sounds like this persistent radio signal isn’t the FRB itself, just an associated phenomenon we’ve noticed with several FRBs?
