After working closely with one of the creators of Armtab (company was created in late 2010/early 2011 from what I know) I have been able to get my hands on two prototype Armtabs! Both of them seem like they are one of a kind. I have pictures attached, and even though the first tablet (minno8) doesn’t look like an Armtab, it 100% is. It is one of the earliest Armtab prototypes ever. Can someone please give me suggestions on what to do to preserve the software that is on these Armtabs? I will most likely be donating these Armtabs to the Armenian science and technology museum, these will be the first working Armtabs they ever recieve. Here are some specs and the conditions of the devices-

Minno 8:
Based off of the 51cube U9GT3

Runs on a Rockchip 3066 SOC

Has 2GB of system NAND and 12-14GB of secondary NAND. (different apps report different sizes)

Runs Android 4.1.1 (Jellybean)

The battery… Exists, but if the tablet is under heavy load and is not charging, a soft shutdown will occur.

Charges using microUSB now, but initially it would not charge at all. I had to very carefully solder a wire from the microUSB port to a capacitor for charging to work at all, and yet, the tablet never reports the battery as "charging". The battery does charge though.

Was manufactured in late 2011 from my knowledge.

Armtab:

Based off of the Ifive mini 3 (wifi)

Runs on a Rockchip 3188 SOC

Has 2GB of system NAND and 12-14GB of secondary NAND. (different apps report different sizes)

Runs Android 4.4 (KitKat)

The battery fully functions, but does not hold the full capacity of charge it initially did anymore.

Charges using microUSB now, but initially it had a broken charging port. I had to replace it carefully so I could get it to work.

The front glass is cracked and touch does not work. Since the ifive mini 3 was a mass produced device, I will be able to replace it. I will keep the cracked glass just in case.

This model of Armtab wa actually mass produced within a limited run, but this Armtab does not have a serial number on the back and does not run the final version of Android used in the retail models from what I know.

Was manufactured in early 2012 from my knowledge.

I will try answering any questions that I get, but I do not guarantee to be able to answer all of them.

Thank you for reading.

  1. Armenians are so bad at naming things in tech it’s basically arm/hay+thing 99% of the time lol.

  2. I seriously doubt it’s their design (I mean the PCB design), most likely just some Chinese design rebranded.
