Japan has won the gold medal in the men’s fencing foil team competition at the Paris Olympics. It is the country’s fifth fencing medal of the Games.
It is also Japan’s first Olympic gold medal in the men’s foil team event. Japan’s team, which is ranked number one in the world, faced off against Italy’s team, which is ranked number two. Japan beat Italy 45-36.
The medal was Japan’s first in the event since it won the silver at the 2012 London Games.
The victory came after Japan won the gold in the men’s individual epee, the silver in the men’s epee team event, and bronze medals in both the women’s foil and sabre team events in Paris.
Japan has won medals in all the fencing team events it has competed in at the Paris Olympics.
