More than 30 people have been killed in an apparent suicide bombing by the Islamist militant group Al-Shabab at a beach in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu.
Local media outlets say six armed people attacked and bombed a busy seaside restaurant on Friday.
Police say at least 32 people were killed and 63 were injured.
An eyewitness who managed to escape said there was an explosion followed by gunfire and many people fell down on the beach.
The Associated Press says Al-Shabab has claimed responsibility. The group has repeatedly targeted government agencies and hotels in Somalia.
Reuters news agency says this was the deadliest attack in the country since car bombs killed about 100 people in Mogadishu in October 2022.
