The Japanese player batted first in the lineup as a designated hitter in Saturday’s away game against the Oakland Athletics.

Ohtani walked in the first inning. He stole second base on the first pitch of the next batter to mark his 29th stolen base of the season.

In his fifth at-bat in the ninth inning, Ohtani singled to center field and stole second, reaching his season career high of 30 steals.

The Japanese star extended his record to 31 when he stole third base on double steals in the same inning. It was the first time for him to steal three bases in one game in his MLB career.

Ohtani went two-for-five with a walk. He had multiple hits for the first time in five games, and raised his batting average to .309, maintaining the top position in the National League.

Ohtani is also leading the league with 33 home runs. His steals have put him in MLB’s “30-30 club” of players who achieve 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases in a season.

The Dodgers beat the Athletics 10-0, ending a three-game losing streak.
