Thank God! The last thing we need is easier availability to those yokes. Biggest pain on the road since BMW drivers.

Yeah, definitely for the best. Already they plague the streets, don’t need them in every bush and body of water.

That’s a pity. Anything that can help get people out of there cars, away from public transport and around the city quicker would always be welcomed by me.

Please don’t. Our streets are already an obstacle course of litter, dog/human sh*t, bags of rubbish, seagulls, teenagers on e-scooters, broken glass and too many sign posts. We do NOT have the space

There’s plenty of electric bicycle hire services around the country now. An adequate and safer version of a scooter.

Good. The state of other countries with scooters and w bikes just lying around the streets

It’s kind of funny that we’ve weight & speed limits on scooters, but no limits on ~~incredibly heavy vehicles~~ cars that kill many people per year! 🤷

  8. >EU legislation on motor insurance, finalised in 2023, set a 25kg threshold above which vehicles need to be insured.

    >Lime’s shared e-scooters, which weigh about 50kg

50kg is a bit hefty to be flying down a footpath.

    >EU legislation on motor insurance, finalised in 2023, set a 25kg threshold above which vehicles need to be insured; other EU countries had already legalised e-scooters before this directive entered force.

no real drama here, guessing it won’t be long until they have lighter models.

  10. I’ve always been extremely pro electric scooter because they are wildly practical. But only privately owned. Public is a nuisance

Often, the techbro model of business is to run ahead of regulation to smash and grab profits before the law can catch up (Uber, AirBnB).

Social consequences? Too bad, gotta go fast. I’m glad the fuckers got checked this time.
