    No one should turn a blind eye to the state banning a media outlet. Otherwise, it will be your turn.


    "PornHUB, Wattpad and OnlyFans should be banned they are corrupting our morality"

    "People who sit on Kick and Twitch all day making money should be banned immediately!"

    "TikTok should be banned, it is brainwashing children"

    "There are posts against our religious brothers on Instagram, they should be banned"

    "There are posts against the state on Twitter, remove them!"

    "Someone criticized the government on YouTube!"

    "Someone on Reddit has disobeyed our great government, ban him too!"

    "One is Facebook… whatever, ban it! BAN BAN BAN!"

    What should we do then? Should we give the state the authority to imprison anyone it wants without trial? Or should we combine the legislature, executive and judiciary under one man? Sorry, that was already there.

    People advocate banning media just because it doesn’t suit their tastes, and arresting journalists and lawyers for criticizing the government. If TikTok should be banned because you and I don’t like TikTok, why shouldn’t we ban Reddit because TikTok users don’t like Reddit? When will the bans end? Is it when our freedom and media are reduced to a single government-controlled channel like North Korea?

    In short, do not advocate any media ban.

      I’m a guest in Turkiye.

      I might not have the right to tell people how they should feel about Instagram being blocked,
      But I want to share that this situation is very concerning to me. I’ve seen this happen before in my home country.

      It started with a few websites and services being blocked, but it gradually increased over time and now there’s almost nothing left. even Google searched cant be opened without a vpn.

      I understand the government may want to make a statement about their values, but I believe it’s unfair for this to happen at the expense of people’s freedom to access global services.

      I’m not sure if there’s any action that can be taken, but I feel worried and think it’s important to be cautious about these events.
