Star presenters for fuck sake not a star among them

They’d get those people for a third the price .

Just privatize the fucking company like we’ve done with every other public service. They’re already getting ad revenue. Might even be a case for EU courts.

Joe Duffy who’s show can’t even get a sponsor.
I had radio 1 on in the car yesterday and he spent 30 minutes talking to a woman who had received some scratch cards in the post that were for someone else and wanted to return them.

Can someone post the names and figured?
Can’t read it.

Great value for money, in fairness.

Joe Duffy seems to have an unnatural hatred for the Catholic church, I’m no big fan myself, but this bishop casey thing went on for a full week, with duffy actually travelling to mass in galway cathedral last weekend, he makes no effort anymore to hide his bias on a lot of subjects and is down right ignorant to anyone who disagrees with him.

I’m not one to shit all over RTE generally. I want us to have a national broadcaster and I think it’s important to fund media that may not be commercially viable but has artistic or cultural merit.
However RTE’s coverage of the Olympics this year has left me thinking they really haven’t a clue what they’re doing. Every time I tuned in to watch some sport they would have some talking heads on in the studio saying the most banal uninteresting shite possible. There’s literally a festival of sport going on and they think what the people want is to listen to somebody talk about sport rather than watch the sport.
The other day they spent 20 minutes talking about sailing, told us there was a race going on and then said “we don’t have any pictures” and moved on without showing a second of sailing.
So completely inept and a total waste of the money they spent securing TV rights.

Their 80s HR practices are a nightmare too. So many incompetent middle managers and people who have been there for donkeys years who are incapable of change and get very possessive over old processes. The usual government job for life shite which just becomes a political career within the organisation. Staff are rewarded on how well they can lick and do the work and get on with it from middle managers who make silly bonuses on the back of not giving proper promotions or salary increases.
It is the type of place that stifles competence. Additional funding and redundancies won’t fix it. The organisation as a whole needs to be rebuilt as a modern public service from the ground up.

Happy to see the list now extended to management.
Been saying for years that management hide behind these lists as presenters get thrown under the bus.
Doesn’t matter who number 1 is or what they earn, people will be outraged.
I do agree at some point Rté need to bite the bullet with Joe Duffy as he’s the outlier now, assume they just wait until his deal is up and offer him a reduced term if he wants to keep going.
This list is a bit weird, as last year was weird in Rté, I suspect over the next few years the figures will drop again and become more stable, and likely we will see more management enter the list if presenters wages are soemwhat capped a.

Why can’t the people burning down Coolock do something useful and burn down RTE instead.
Hipster_doofus11 on
Didn’t the whole Tubridy thing stem from RTE declaring his salary as lower than what he actually got paid? Why would anyone trust what the declared salaries of these people are?

The entire list is being propped up by temporary contracts paying €15 per hour

Every time I read about RTE, I assume a corrupt organisation being kept alive for favours. And everything makes sense

The corruption is so overt. The government and politicians bailed out RTE to buy favourable coverage ahead of the elections. There is no other excuse.
We had that green party creature masquerading as a minister Martin pulling a stroke at a press conference by complaining about the lack women in politics because of intimidating questions presumably so the distraction would avoid her having to go into detail about bailing out the state broadcaster.
It’s a fu**!ng Joke.

I really don’t understand how there can be a 750 million bail out without a hard salary cap of say 150k for all staff and contractors given all the recent contoversies
