Heavy rain disrupts train services in northern Japan Heavy rain in northern Japan is disrupting railway services in the region.

Operations on the JR Ou Line will be suspended between Yokote Station in Akita Prefecture and Shinjo Station in Yamagata Prefecture all day Thursday.

Operations on the JR Uetsu Line have also been suspended between Araya Station in Akita Prefecture and Sakata Station in Yamagata Prefecture for the rest of the day.

Operations on the JR Hanawa Line were suspended between Odate Station in Akita Prefecture and Morioka Station in Iwate Prefecture at around 2:30 p.m.

Yuri Kogen Railway has suspended its operations in Akita Prefecture for the rest of the day.

The rain is also affecting road traffic. The Nihonkai Tohoku Expressway is closed between Kisakata Interchange and Honjo Interchange.
