The operator of the Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train says part of its service will remain suspended throughout Monday, because the work to remove damaged maintenance vehicles on the track has been prolonged.
Central Japan Railway Company, or JR Tokai, says the removal work is expected to continue until around 9 p.m., two hours behind schedule.
The company says the suspension of the train services between Hamamatsu Station in Shizuoka Prefecture and Nagoya Station in Aichi Prefecture will continue for the rest of the day.
The accident involving two maintenance vehicles occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Monday. Both vehicles were derailed.
