  1. > we opted out of ad tracking so it could not tell what we were doing outside of the app.

    a likely story

  2. I created a tiktok account not that long ago and didn’t follow any accounts or like any posts or whatever and just randomly browsed and within about five minutes of only swiping I was getting real cooked stuff.

I am so frustrated that its 2024 and we still have no effective legislation/regulation of social media while it continues to hollow out our democracy and further polarise us.

Simple things like forcing the apps to a chronological timeline have been shown to reduce harm associated with social media on the public.

Also why the fuck are they able to get away with fuck all moderation, straight up lies and misinformation are rampant.

    What the fuck…

If they hovered over the “problematic” posts for longer, it would take that as engagement and continue to deliver more of those. Hence, they could very easily steer the algorithm

My twitter account barely follows anyone and nothing nazi adjacent. My fyp though is a messssss.

  6. Wow this is the stupidest article I have ever read. Fun fact no the algorithm does serve up misogyny content by default. It just knows who you are even when you try and hide it. All they did was use a new device with a new email to make the account.

Guess what, the algorithm knows who you are based on other device information. The amount of metadata collected and collated is insane and unless you know what you are doing, you are not avoiding it.

Some examples of the data collected

    Network information

    Device IDs

    MAC addresses

    Browser fingerprints

    Account IDs

    Sub account IDs

    Bluetooth communication IDs

    Chipset numbers and identifiers

    Network packet headers

    DNS records and searches

    Accelerometer and GPS data

    Device orientation data

These are but a handful of the hundreds of thousands of data points collected.

So unless the guardian created a new account, never connected it to a common network (wifi) never had the phone near any other mobile devices, never had it connect or have Bluetooth on and scan devices you use, never used it to connect to the web unless using tor or brave browser. Never synced anything from any other account on that device ever i.e sync browser settings on chrome from your main account. Have the device in a location that is not your home, office or anywhere you visit with any level of frequency etc.

Then you can get a clean slate. Otherwise they know it is you and if you look up any misogyny online it will serve that to you. Even if you watched the thumbnail for .001 seconds longer it will serve that to you. Same if you look at misandry it will serve that shit up on a platter on new devices.

Ever wonder how if you never had a Facebook then you make an account and suddenly all your family and friends pop up. Or you just met a cute girl at a bar and were talking for a few hours and then the next day or week bam she is a suggested friend? Even if you never exchanged numbers?

Yeah because the metadata between your devices is collected. Even if you isolate your phone if the accelerometer detects a bump and another device detects the same bump at the same time it will know where you are if the other person has location services turned on. If you are on a shared network like wifi it will know it is you or a family member and will monitor the packets on the network and DNS records and the shared fingerprints of your digital footprint.

If it finds the virgin device and your normal device goes anywhere with similar frequency or that the phone is always close to yours at a certain time or all the time because you have both devices with you. They will know it is you. They do this and make shadow profiles if you don’t have accounts with them and track all that shit anyways. When you make an account they link it up. Delete your account it goes back to shadow but with your real name attached.

Want to test this properly? Do it right.
