The unfortuntate Gialousa village festival

It is common for village festivals to invite popular singers, mostly from Turkey. On the Karpaz peninsular, they invited two acts as the main attraction of the first summer festival at the beach in Yeni Erenköy/Gialousa

Turkish singer Sena Sener came but did not stay long – in the middle of her third song, suddenly electricity was cut. Well, it’s not the first time in Cyprus and you would expect them to be prepared. They had a generator but apparently never tested it before. They tried and tried but the performance of the generator was not sufficient for the sound system. The singer left in the darkness.

They also invited the Turkish rapper Motive; he was the main act for the last day two days later. He came to the stage, saw the audience and refused to perform. Not enough people, he said and left.
