Osaka Expo participants meet to discuss preparations Delegates from countries and organizations participating in the 2025 Osaka world expo kicked off a two-day planning meeting in Japan on Tuesday.

About 160 countries and regions as well as nine international organizations are due to take part in the expo, which opens next April.

The secretary general of the Paris-based Bureau International des Expositions, Dimitri Kerkentzes, called on participants to make the expo a “momentous event” for tens of millions of visitors.

The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition says it hopes to hear about exhibition plans and requests for the event.

Association officials say attendees at the meeting have shown interest in the management of pavilions, including how to secure workforce.

They plan to provide information during the meeting on application procedures for staff visas and accommodation.
