Israel's Netanyahu dissolves war cabinet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly dissolved the war cabinet that was tasked with steering Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli media reported that Netanyahu made the decision in a meeting on Sunday.

The war cabinet was launched last October with backing from opposition parties. But earlier this month, former Defense Minister Benny Gantz quit over what he said was Netanyahu’s lack of a post-war plan for the Gaza enclave.

It appears that Netanyahu’s coalition government will be maintained. Media reports suggest that sensitive issues about the conflict in Gaza will be addressed in smaller forums involving Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and other high-ranking officials.

Experts say Netanyahu’s move will give far-right ministers in his government a greater say, as they oppose negotiations with Hamas aimed at a ceasefire and hostage release deal.
