Six Japanese technology startups have showcased their work on robotics and artificial intelligence at an Indian university in a bid to recruit talented engineers.
The event took place on Tuesday at one of the Indian Institutes of Technology in Delhi. More than 100 students and others attended.
One of the startups introduced a robot that can clean solar panels in harsh environments such as a desert.
The firm is looking to hire staff to help it expand into India’s rapidly growing market for solar power generation.
Students asked many questions and were eager to find out about other robots the firm has developed.
After the presentation, one mathematics student said he was impressed by advances in Japanese technology and would be interested in working for a Japanese company.
The event was organized by Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization.
An official of the technology promotion agency said India is attractive as a market for Japanese businesses and as a source of recruitment.
