I do not post much on Instagram and my latest post is 3 months old. I have a private account, like many. I have always received here and there some bot follow request, the typical account with 3-4 post from a ultra-hot girl. In the last 10 days or so I am receiving one or two of these requests per day. Are you also experiencing the same? I was earlier reading an article about how Switzerland is now under the attack of Russian propaganda (https://www.tvsvizzera.it/tvs/qui-svizzera/la-propaganda-russa-prende-di-mira-la-svizzera-in-vista-della-conferenza-del-b%c3%bcrgenstock/79214512) and I thought that maybe Swiss users could be target of a large scale attack.
please note that:
- I know close to nothing about Russia, and the international situation in general
- I know nothing about cyber attacks and stuff like that
- I have no idea what people can do if you accept the follow request, I assume they’ll start a chat
- I did not do any further investigation
I had this thought and wanted to ask if you were experiencing the same and if someone know wether this could be related to the ongoing conflict. Not necessarily proving it, but if the option is plausible.

Look, no offense but we have been spared from much spam and scams until recently, and Insta is simply enabling easy spam and scam bots.
The much simpler explanation is that online spam/scam has really picked up, spam filters aren’t working well for some reason, and this is the outcome.
Russian state actors almost surely target Swiss state infrastructure, not us as individuals with hot lady pics. Those accounts probably want our money.
