So, I was looking at a good English language analysis of the protests but there’s virtually nothing out there. And what is out there has its issues, like this Israeli think-tank piece. For example, by implicating the Armenian Dispaora as a whole to be behind the protests or that Armenia was the main sanction evasion route for Iran. Pity, otherwise would’ve posted to r/europe
Some interesting nuggets:
>Armenian sources indicate that practically all key participants of the protests in February this year took part in the 15th “Hay Day Today” conference in Tehran. The Iranian “Armenian Committee” invited Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, the leader of the Tavush Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church; Kiro Manoyan, a member of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun Bureau; Lilit Galstyan, the deputy of the National Assembly, and Artur Mosiyan, the leader of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun faction in the National Assembly of Artsakh.
>The main issue of discussion was “the capabilities of the Armenian Apostolic Church in coping with the national crisis” and “adjustment of new targets of the struggle for the Armenian cause, development of strategy and tactics”. Galstanyan and others also held closed meetings to “exchange ideas” with Iranian experts on South Caucasus issues at the Caucasus Studies Institute of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

This is precisely the reason why ANY ties with that country other than economic should be COMPLETELY SCRAPPED. No more “but history,…. but there are lots of good people, …. but culturally we once were close …but … but … but” NO that country IS DANGEROUS any closer contact with them can give them a grip on us here its an attempt to try to get close to our religious institutions and its members, later it could be educational institutions or worse political.
It’s time to say goodbye to the east and mi. Ddle east (other than economics) and fully look west.
This is the ONE thing our gorgi bros (the people not gov) understood and we didn’t.
Armenia can’t progress if we cozy up to these countries. We need to cozy up to countries THAT ARE DOING BETTER THAN US and learn not these h. Ell holes

I mean normally if you’d have asked me back in 2020-2021, I’d have said Russia would be the main problem in Armenia shifting west, but what caught me off guard was the entire fucking region, particularly the church, the arf, pretty much any political member in Armenia.
It seems Iran has gotten guarantees from Russia about a corridor not happening extraterrestrial, who’s explain Iran backing this up.
