Hi everyone! 😇

I’m planning my trip to cyprus together with some friends. We would like to stay in Ayia Napa, but realised that hotels are more expensive there compared to other regions.

A cheaper alternative would be Paralimni, which isn’t too far away from Ayia Napa. Now my question is if we’d like to visit Ayia Napa from time to time, what would be the best and cheapest method?

According to my researches I found that there is a public transport bus line, which is very affordable but one ride takes 75 minutes… Is there maybe a more direct/faster bus shuttle for this route?

Also from a taxi website the estimated price for a taxi ride is about 8€ and only takes about 10-15mins. Is this a realistic price and will it get much cheaper if we split the ride/price among us or is 8€ the estimated price per person? Also is it easy to get a taxi in Cyprus?

If anyone has experience with this route or knows more about it, I’d be very glad to hear from you 😊

Thanks in advance! 🫶🏻🇨🇾

  1. Probably you should look at 501/502 route it goes directly from paralimni to ayia napa instead of 101/102 that goes around the coast. Should take 15-20 mins to ayia napa center depending where in paralimni you get it.

8 eu is too cheap for taxi. Rates are 1eu/km (plus minus a few cents if it’s night or day) plus 4-5eu flag fall charge. So I would say minimum 12-13 eu. It’s not per person. Also you have to call them and you can be waiting a while if it is at a busy time.

Staying in Paralimni seems silly to me unless you’re in the kapparis area. Paralimni isn’t pretty and there isn’t much for tourists to do there. The restaurants are better and you’ll be closer to the ghost city, but that’s about it.
A few other places to look: kapparis, pernera, protaras, Cavo Greco, makronissos.

The point of your holiday, I’m assuming, is to go to the beach and enjoy the place. If you’re in Paralimni with no car you’ll spend your time and money on buses and taxis.

  3. I wouldn’t bother staying in Paralimni. It’s not “pretty” and doesn’t have a lot for tourists. Check out Pernera or Kapparis instead.

The bus from Pernera – Ayia Napa takes around 40 minutes in the Summer and is €1.50. It goes quite quickly though as it’s quite a scenic ride.

A taxi will definitely cost more than that. From Paralimni – Ayia Napa you’re looking at around €20 each way in tourist season.
