Today I received this message from Swedbank. When I called Swedbank, the consultant explained that I would have to change the card to a new one, because their system detected an unclear attempt to make a payment using my card data. When asked about the settlement and in which system the leak occurred, the consultant could not answer, as she does not see such information.
The very fact that my card details were leaked surprised me a bit. I pay online max 1-2 times a month and never enter my card details. I usually pay using Paypal or Google Pay methods, and if it is necessary to enter card data, I use the Revolut one-time virtual card. The only platforms where I remember entering my card data are Paypal and Google, but I’ve had the card for a long time, so maybe I entered it somewhere else and I don’t know where anymore. That’s why I was wondering where the data leak could have happened, but unfortunately I didn’t get an answer.
Maybe someone heard about some recent data breach? Or are there others who have had the same experience and have more information? You wouldn’t want to get on the same rake again after getting a new card.
