Japan to make diplomatic efforts to prevent Middle East situation from worsening Japan’s top government spokesperson says the country will make all necessary diplomatic efforts to prevent the situation in the Middle East from worsening.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi Yoshimasa made the remarks at a news conference on Friday.

He was asked about the Japanese government’s view and response to reports by Iranian and US media on recent events in the Middle East. Iranian media outlets reported on explosions allegedly heard in the central province of Isfahan. US media outlets cited US government officials as saying Israel had attacked Iran.

Hayashi said Japan is deeply concerned about the situation in the Middle East and strongly condemns any action that could lead to an escalation.

He also said there have been no reports of Japanese nationals being harmed, and the government will do all it can to protect those in the affected areas.
